Energy Labs thermal break air handling are designed and manufactured with thermal break foam injected panels.
CASING AND ROOF The casing is manufactured by injecting polyurethane closed cell foam between double-wall panels. The structural and adhesive properties of the foam allow the inner and outer panels to be connected together without the need for thermal conducting fasteners , this design eliminates condensation on external surfaces.
Condensation is particularly important in high humidity geographical areas, or humidity sensitive applications. Injected foam panels are constructed with G-90 galvanized steel with polyurethane finish that withstands a 2000 hr salt spray test for maintenance free life.
We can vary the metal gauges and metal types for both the inner and outer casing. This flexibility allows us to design thermal break air handling systems that optimize customer requirements for weight and rigidity.
One of the main advantages of foam panel casing is the high insulating value of the foam with R-values that are double fiberglass for the same depth. Our 2” casing has an R-value of 13.5 and our 4” casing has an R-value of 26.
STRUCTURAL PANEL BASE
Each base frame is manufactured with a fully welded structural steel to provide rigidity, heavy gauge galvanized steel casing and floor. Location of major components and lifting lugs are reinforced with tubular steel. Base frame is painted with polyurethane paint finish for superior resistance against corrosion, and harsh environments. Floor skin is 14 gauge galvanized steel, optional materials include aluminum, tread plate and stainless steel in many thicknesses. 2” (optional: 3”, 4”) of polyurethane foam applied to all panels, flanges and structural members for maximum insulating value. The base and casing are thermally isolated using polymer gasket assembly.
THERMAL BRAKE ACCESS DOORS
Thermally broken access doors prevent sweating and condensation of air on door frames in high humidity areas. Energy Labs Thermal Brake Access doors are manufactured from galvanized steel, double wall construction with polyurethane injected foams. Fully adjustable heavy-duty hinges and latches are supplied with non-corrosive hardware mounted on a flush mounted thermal break extruded aluminum frame. Doors are designed to be operable from the exterior and interior of the unit. Access doors have double gaskets to prevent air leakage.
