Although frequently overlooked, one of the most important factors in the design of an efficient air handling system is the selection of the fan. Energy Labs specializes in fan design and acoustics. Our deep pool of engineering expertise includes an acoustics design group, an on-site testing facility and leading edge computational fluid dynamic (CFD) tools. The combination of these has led to the development of some of the most efficient and quietest fans in the industry. Since Energy Labs is a fan and air handling expert our systems exceed industry standards.
WHY WE ARE BETTER
Consider that the industry standard for rating fan performance is to test one fan size and then extrapolate performance for two other fan sizes. Furthermore, some fan companies only test one fan arrangement. Add to these considerations the extrapolations used by an air handling assembler for casing performance and it is easy to understand why their performance at the jobsite can deviate from plans. The result can be wasted time and money on commissioning systems at the jobsite.
For Energy Labs, our performance is not extrapolated but verified in our test lab. With over 30 years of testing all fan configurations, unconventional air tunnel configurations and sizes, Energy Labs fan and system performance is the most reliable in the industry. For example, our exhaustive testing found that there are detrimental effects on performance of fan by locating the fan bearing in the fan inlet such as arrangement 3 fans which most manufacturers provide. . Energy Labs realized these problems long ago and only ships the more expensive arrangement 1 fans. The result is an open unobstructed inlet for lower sound levels and higher Energy efficiency.
In another example of our high standards in fan design, we only provide an extruded aluminum airfoil blade compared to the use of flat backward inclined or steel blades used by many competitors. Our extruded aluminum blades provide a level of precision not possible with steel blades. Some other benefits of an Energy Lab Fan include:
Fans are selected at peak efficiency to minimize power consumption and noise generation.
All fans are statically and dynamically balanced before shipment.
Fan performance is based on tests conducted in accordance with AMCA standard 210.
All Energy Labs fans are licensed to bear the AMCA seal for air performance and sound.
All belt drive fans manufactured by Energy Labs have a minimum L-10 bearing life of 200,000 hours.
Airfoil fans are available in sizes 13" to 60" diameter with AMCA Class I, II and III construction. We offer forward-curved fans for low pressure applications and airfoil fans (housed and plenum) for medium and higher pressure applications.
